HEAT
There are certain woods that have a higher natural resistance to
heat. With a scientific understanding of this issue, the fire safety of a given wooden
structure using such wood is vastly improved. Fire doors are an example of a woods
resistance to heat and are hence used to give the occupants additional time to escape in
the event of a fire. Subsequently, other wooden areas of the structure also react in a
conventional way and an understanding of the fire characteristics of wood of course help
to increase safety whilst reducing damage. |
