Nappa In depth

 

 

This is perhaps the most wide spread article available in the leather market. Nappa covers sheep & goat leathers that have been tanned for the exclusive manufacture of garments, finished on the grain side. Nappa consists of 3 main groups:

  • Pure Aniline

Leather that has been completely dyed through and has not received any manufactured coating or finish. This is the most natural finish available in nappa and is finished leather in is most pure form. The skins used in to achieve this finish have to be the best and without flaws – the main reason aniline finished nappa is much more expensive than other nappas.

  • Semi-aniline

Leather that has been completely dyed through and has received a nominal amount of manufactured coating but not sufficient enough to conceal the natural characteristics of the skin.

  • Pigmented

Leather that has been tanned and a pigment (manmade coating) has been applied in an attempt to conceal any defects in the skins,
